assessment:

During your dog’s initial assessment I will complete a thorough subjective and objective assessment which may include the following elements:

  • Subjective history (taken from you as the owner)

  • Static assessment - assessing posture, alignment and weight distribution.

  • Palpation - assessing for heat, tenderness, swelling, muscle tone and imbalance.

  • ROM - assessing the range of movement to identify potential restrictions, in your dog’s joints.

  • Neuro assessment (where clinically indicated)

  • Dynamic assessment - assessing your dog’s gait pattern and movement, during walk/trot.

  • Functional assessment - observing your dog doing its normal activities (i.e. standing up/lying down/climbing on the sofa).

  • Electrotherapies

  • Rehab & remedial exercises

Massage, PROM & Stretching are techniques used within Physiotherapy sessions to reduce pain & tension, improve tissue extensibility and maintain joint range of movement, to improve your dog’s overall movement and function.

ELECTROTHERAPIES

I am currently offering Class 3b Therapeutic Laser Therapy and Thermotherapy (hot/cold therapy) which can be used alongside manual techniques and rehab, to reduce pain, focal muscle tension, oedema/swelling and joint inflammation, to improve overall function and enhance the wellbeing & quality of life of your dog.

REHAB & REMEDIAL EXERCISES

Exercises tailored to treat your' dogs clinical presentation. Aims are often to build musculature, improve strength, balance, coordination or proprioception. I will often demonstrate and prescribe exercises that you can continue to practice in between our sessions, to support your dog to achieve the best possible gains.
